Check out any of the links on the left to help you through your high school years!

College for All Texans – The most important thing to remember about preparing for college is to start as soon as possible. It’s never too early to begin gathering information and to create a step-by-step plan. The College for All Texans website will help you get going, with info about choosing a college, the tests you need, the costs you can expect and more. By learning about the process now, you'll be less likely to have surprises pop up later.

Texas Reality Check – Will you be able to afford the lifestyle you want? It's difficult to predict the future, but it's never too early to start planning for it. Texas Reality Check will show you how much your living expenses will cost, and the amount of money you will need to earn to pay for them.

Information about Texas Colleges and Universities, Financial Aid, College Admissions, etc. – “contains a list of colleges and universities in the State of Texas, admission requirements, total expenses for an academic year, financial aid data and related information, helpful hints to the college bound, together with a Calendar of various scholarship deadlines arranged by months. It is presented as an aid mainly to senior high school students seeking higher education in Texas and to the dedicated people who teach and counsel with them. The list does not include graduate/professional schools, private specialized, or private technical schools.”

2020-2021 SAT & ACT Information & Dates

2020-2021 SAT/ACT Scores – Are They “Good”?
– Many four-year Texas colleges look at your “quartile” to determine admission. Your High School transcript shows your “quartile,” which is determined by your class rank. In Texas, students in the top 10% (other than UT-Austin) have automatic admittance to Texas public colleges, so they have no required SAT/ACT scores (however, certain majors may require certain scores). Those students not in the top 10% (or 25% at some colleges) or attending colleges outside Texas can be automatically admitted if they have the required SAT/ACT scores determined by their quartile. While the above form shows several colleges often attended by LCM students, click here to see all public Texas colleges and universities. If looking at out-of-state or private colleges, check their websites for admission requirements. For Fall 2021, many colleges and universities have gone TEST OPTIONAL – your grades, activities, etc. will be considered.

– Texas colleges also require that you demonstrate the necessary skills to be successful in college courses. Once admitted to college, you will then register for courses. In Texas, you must prove college-ready skills to be in certain courses or be placed in developmental/remedial courses to acquire those skills. The TSI (Texas Success Initiative) test measures your reading, writing, and math skills. You can also prove college-ready skills by getting certain SAT/ACT scores or completing dual-enroll college courses to be exempt from the TSI.
