October 30 (LCM) – Junior Ava White has been named the Lady Bears Athlete of the Week. In her last district volleyball game of the season, White contributed 6 kills, several key digs, 1 ace with numerous service points, and an assist.  Not only has she continued to be a force on all areas of the court, she has played a vital part in the Lady Bears making the playoffs.

 

 

LADY BEARS WIN REGULAR SEASON FINALE

October 24 (Silsbee) – The Lady Bears traveled to Silsbee and won in straight sets (25-17, 25-15, 25-12) to finish the regular season 24-16 (8-4 in district). Stat leaders were: Kills: Paisley Angelle 9, Lindi Perry 7, Ava White and Asia Woodson 6, Amaya Meadows 2, and Jazel Guilbeaux 1. Blocks: Asia Woodson 3, Jazel Guilbeaux and Lindi Perry 2, Amaya Meadows and Paisley Angelle 1. Assists: Addi Russell 15, Jada Montagne 12, Amaya Meadows, Lexi Tubbleville, and Ava White all with 1. Aces: Jada Montagne and Asia Woodson 2, Paisley Angelle, Addie Russell and Ava White with 1.  The Bears will represent the district as the four seed in the playoffs and will play Huffman in the bi-district round.  The Lady Bears freshmen won in two tonight to finish the season 27-7 (11-0 in district) and JV won in three to finish the season 33-4 (11-0 in district).

LADY BEARS SWEEP WOS – PICK UP WIN #20

September 26 (Orange) – The Lady Bears (20-13, 4-1) picked up their fourth district win in a row and win #20 on the season with a 25-5, 25-12, 25-8 sweep over the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs Tuesday night. For LCM: Aces: Eden Frenzel (6), Jada Montagne (4), Addi Russell and Lexi Tubbleville (3), Janniliz Nazario and Asia Woodson (2), and Paisley Angelle (1). Kills: Paisley Angelle, Lindi Perry, Jazel Guilbeaux, and Amaya Meadows all with 4, Eden Frenzel (2), Asia Woodson and Addi Russell (1). Stuff Blocks: Lindi Perry (3). Assists: Addi Russell (9) and Jada Montagne (8). The JV team won (25-9, 25-11)  to remain undefeated in district play. Their current record is 26-4 (5-0). 

 

 

LADY BEARS SWEEP JASPER

September 22 (Jasper) – LCM picked up another district win as they swept the Lady Bulldogs 25-12, 25-13, 25-17 in Jasper Friday night. Aces: Eden Frenzel (4), Ava White (2), Asia Woodson and Janniliz Nazario (1). Kills: Asia Woodson (10), Paisley Angelle (6), Jazel Guilbeaux/Lindi Perry/Ava White each (4), Addi Russell (2). Digs: Ava White (15), Eden Frenzel (13), Lexi Tubbleville (9), Asia Woodson (5), Janniliz Nazario (3). Stuff Blocks: Lindi Perry—2, Paisley Angelle—1. Assists: Addi Russell—16, Jada Montagne—10. The JV team won in two to bring their overall record to 25-4 and district record to 4-0.  The Lady Bears (19-13, 3-1) will take on the Lady Mustangs Tuesday night at WOS.

 

 

LADY BEARS TAKE DOWN LUMBERTON IN FIVE SETS

September 19 (Lumberton) – The Lady Bears travelled to Lumberton Tuesday and came home with a big district win.  LCM (18-13, 2-1) won in a five set thriller 12-25, 25-21, 22-25, 25-12, 15-7.  Stats for the Lady Bears – Aces: Addi Russell (3), Asia Woodson, Jada Montagne and Lexi Tubbleville (1).  Kills: Paisley Angell (10), Asia Woodson (7), Ava White and Lindi Perry (5), Jazel Guilbeaux (4), Amaya Meadows (3).  Stuff Blocks: Lindi Perry (4), Paisley Angelle and Amaya Meadows (2).  Assists: Jada Montagne (13) and Addi Russell (11).  The Lady Bears Freshmen and JV teams also beat Lumberton.

LADY BEARS GO 4-1 IN YMBL TOURNEY

September 9 (Beaumont) – The Lady Bears came away 4-1 in the annual YMBL Varsity Volleyball Tournament.  LCM downed Buna, Evadale, and Vidor in Thursday’s play.  In Saturday’s action, the Lady Bears beat West Orange-Stark and then fell to Vidor in their final match.  LCM improves to 16-12 overall and will start district play Tuesday night at Bridge City.

LADY BEARS TAKE SECOND AT SILSBEE TOURNEY

August 12 (Silsbee) – The Lady Bears (7-1) came away with second place in the Silsbee Lady Tiger Varsity Volleyball Tournament Saturday afternoon.  LCM cruised through the bracket with wins over Deweyville, Woodville, Evadale, and Coldspring before falling to Vidor in the championship game (30-29, 21-25, and 10-15).  Sophomore Paisley Angelle was named to the All-Tournament team.

 

 

LADY BEARS TRAVEL TO HARDIN

August 8 (Hardin) – LCM traveled to Hardin Tuesday afternoon to take on the Lady Hornets. The freshman team lost in three, the JV won in two, and the varsity team came away with a thrilling five set victory against a very solid Hardin team. Coach Snipes said, “I thought the girls showed a great competitive spirit, played extremely hard, the defense was everywhere, and refused to lose. We were down 18-8 in the first set before falling 17-25 so we started to get a little traction and momentum after that first set. We won the second set 25-13. We lost the third set 19-25. We were up 21-16 in the fourth set before Hardin came back to tie the game at 21. The girls showed a lot of heart to respond and win 25-23. The fifth set was back and forth all the way to the end as we came out 15-13.”

SNIPES ERA BEGINS WITH WIN AT LIBERTY

August 7 (Liberty) – New head coach Johnathon Snipes and the 2023 LCM Lady Bear Volleyball team took the court Monday night against Liberty to open the season. Coach Snipes called it a “slow start” but the Lady Bears took care of the Panthers in straight sets, 27-25, 25-16, 25-19. Team leaders were: Aces: Ava White with 4, Asia Woodson with 2, Jada Montagne/Paisley Angelle/Eden Frenzel all with 1. Kills: Paisley Angelle 8, Asia Woodson and Jazel Guilbeaux each with 6, Amaya Meadows and Ava White with 3. Digs: Ava White 10, Eden Frenzel 9, Jada Montagne 8, Paisley Angelle 5, Janniliz Nazario and Lexi Tubbleville with 3. Blocks: Lindi Perry with 3 and Jazel Guilbeaux with 2. Assists: Jada Montagne and Addi Russell each with 12. In subvarsity action the freshmen won in three and JV lost in three. (Courtesy KOGT Sports)
