LADY BEAR IRON SET FOR REGIONAL MEET

February 18 (LCM) – With the conclusion of the local powerlifting season, the LCM Lady Bear Iron team is set for the Regional Meet in Bay City on February 27th for the "Unequipped" division, and March 1st for the "Equipped" division. Seventeen girls qualified to compete at regionals, fifteen in the "Unequipped," and two in the "Equipped" division. The "Unequipped" lifters are: Alasia Allen, Faithlyn Allen, Makenna Baze, Karlee Cooksey, Zay'Audria Epps, Laken Hardy, Irelynn Kyle, Kaylan Moore, Cassandra Neville, Isabella Nicholas, Cailynn Nichols, Lanie Roff, Jaiden Romar, Kiari Walsten, and Victoria Young. The "Equipped" Lifters are: Madelyn Harding, and Gracelynn Smith.

BEARS WIN SEASON OPENER

February 17 (Beaumont) – Bear Baseball opened the 2025 season with a 12-1 win over the Westbrook Bruins. Parker Freeman led the Bears with three hits. Marco Bandiero had a big game with with two hits, one a 3-run home run, and five total RBI’s. Parker Seago had two hits and a two RBI double and Jacob Scheiderer had two hits and an RBI. Other Bears in the hit column were Jackson Struwe, Drayden Cook, Ethan Fry, and Clay Raney with the other lone RBI. Landon Richards earned his first win of the season allowing thee hits over four innings striking out eight. Parker Freeman came in relief and shut the door striking out six in three hitless innings of work.

LADY BEARS SEASON COMES TO AN END

February 17 (Waller) – The Lady Bears saw their season come to an end Monday night with a 43-34 loss to the China Springs Lady Cougars in the third round of the 4A D1 playoffs. LCM was lead by Eden Frenzel’s 13 points, followed by Keylie Washburn with 6, Amaya Meadows (above) with 5, Emily Smith with 5, Aubrey Temple with 3, and Mallory Russell with 2. The Lady Bears finish the season with a record of 28-9.

February 17 – Congratulations to senior, Maddie McConnell for being selected as the LCM Lady Bears Athlete of the Week. Last Friday, Maddie scored 4 goals in the Lady Bears’ 8-0 district win over Bridge City.

February 15 (Baytown) – Lady Bear Softball started the year off strong by finishing their first tournament with 4 wins and 2 losses. As a team, the Lady Bears outscored their opponents 59-14, racking up 51 hits on the weekend, including 30 singles, 12 doubles, 4 triples, and 5 home runs. The Lady Bears were also quick on the bases, successfully stealing 18 bases in 19 attempts. Several Lady Bears contributed significantly to the offensive explosion. Eden Frenzel led the charge, going 7-for-11 with a triple, an in-the-park home run, 5 RBIs, and 4 stolen bases. Lexis Moss added power at the plate, going 8-for-15 with two doubles, two home runs, 8 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases. Tessa Erickson was strong as well, going 8-for-16 with two doubles, a triple, and 2 stolen bases. Jillian Brown added consistency with a 6-for-12 performance, including three doubles and 5 RBIs. And Keylie Washburn rounded out the offense, going 4-for-10 with a double, a triple, two home runs, 7 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases. Kendall Jones also contributed 4 RBIs of her own and 4 stolen bases. The Lady Bears were defensively solid as well, committing only 3 errors in 104 chances, which included turning a smooth triple play. On the mound, the Lady Bear pitching staff was dominant, facing 103 batters and allowing only 9 earned runs on 22 hits. Ella Stephenson led the way with 14 strikeouts, giving up 9 hits and 4 walks, while Tessa Erickson was also strong, striking out 6 and allowing only 8 hits and 3 walks. The Lady Bears will be back on the road next week, looking to keep their momentum going with a game versus Nederland on Tuesday and the Battle of the Best Tournament in Sweeny next weekend.

POWERLIFTING WINS AGAIN

February 13 (West Orange) – Last night LCM Bear Iron competed in their final local meet before regionals at the West Orange-Stark Powerlifting Meet. Both Bear Iron and Lady Bear teams performed very well with multiple pr's being set, which in turn resulted in them both winning the boy's and girl's divisions. With the conclusion of the local meets Lady Bear Iron went 2 for 4 on meet wins and Bear Iron went 4 for 4 on meet wins. The individual results for the boys are as followed: Aiden Snyder - 1st place, 123's, Gunner Fry - 2nd place, 123's, Jaxson Phelps - 2nd place, 148's, Isaac Pinder - 2nd place, 165's, Diego Velasquez - 4th place, 220's, Eddie Winters Wilhite - 1st place, 242's, Jacob Costner - 3rd place, 242's, Van Potter - 4th place, 242's, Nathan Childress - 1st place, 275's, Cooper Smith - 2nd place, 308's, Carson Phelps - 1st place, 308's; Outstanding Boy Lifter Heavy Platforms. The results for the girls are as followed in their respective weight classes: Gracelynn Smith - 1st place, Madelyn Harding - 2nd place, Faithlyn Allen - 3rd place, Makenna Baze - 4th place, Zay'Audria Epps - 2nd  placeCailynn Nichols - 4th place, Jaiden Romar - 1st place, Irelynn Kyle - 2nd place, Victoria Young - 3rd place, Karlee Cooksey - 3rd place, Kiari Walsten - 3rd place, Alasia Allen - 1st place, Cassandra Neville - 5th place.

LADY BEARS DOWN HUFFMAN IN AREA ROUND

February 13 (East Chambers) – The Lady Bears downed the Huffman Lady Falcons 53-39 in the Area round of the 4A D1 playoffs. Trailing Huffman 22-16 at the half, LCM had a strong second half to come from behind and take the 14-point win. Keylie Washburn led the Lady Bears with 17 points and Maya Meadows had a big game with 15 points. Mallory Russell and Taylor Huckaby each chipped in 6 points. LCM (28-8) will play China Spring next Monday (2/17) in the Regional Semi-Finals. Tip-off will be at 6pm at Waller High School.
