Most colleges have a specific page that lists scholarships, qualifications, deadlines, etc. Please be sure to visit the college’s scholarships page for the most accurate information.

Information on this page is for guidance – please confirm ALL deadlines and requirements for scholarships as colleges may update them after they have been posted below.

Students should inform the Counseling Office of ANY scholarship OFFERS they receive – whether or not they accept the scholarship.


  • Baylor University – Scholarships page  -  Baylor’s Freshman Scholarship Calculator 
    • ​Carr P Collins Scholarship – Opens October 18 – Deadline January 31
      Collins Scholars are awarded a minimum of $5,350 their freshman year, renewable for three additional years. Recipients must be residents of Texas who have been admitted to Baylor, be in the top 25% of their graduating class, have a minimum 1310 SAT or 28 ACT

    • High School Scholarship
      Deadline: April 1, 2024 

      Applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA/4.0 scale and submit a one-page essay of your education goals and a transcript,. Online application.
    • Ambassador Scholarship
      Deadline: February 28, 2024
      High school seniors who are in the top 25% can earn full tuition and fees for two semesters (one year) up to 15 hours per semester. Ambassadors will network on campus and in the community as well as develop leadership and career skills. Applicants must enroll as a full-time student at LSCO and maintain a 3.0 college GPA, attend training sessions and required monthly meetings, serve about 4 hours a week, and assist with campus tours, community events, recruiting, and special assignments.   • Lamar University – Scholarships page  
    (Submit an application at ApplyTexas.orgOnce admitted, you will receive a username and password by email.)
    Scholarship Opportunities – You will be automatically considered based on your completed General Application.
     
    • ​The Presidential Scholarship (part of LU's Top Scholars Program)
      Deadline: – January 15 
      Outstanding incoming freshmen with exceptionally strong academic records are invited to apply. Presidential Scholars receive a full scholarship for four years covering tuition, fees, room and board, and books. Applicants should be: first-time-in-college freshmen (dual credit and AP credit are not disqualifying) with a minimum 3.85 GPA (High school GPA will be re-calculated on 4.0 collegiate scale) and rank in the Top 25% of their class. Presidential Scholarship applicants must first apply and be accepted for admission to Lamar University. To apply for a Presidential Scholarship, you should submit a letter of interest that presents a personal statement of your academic goals and intended major, along with a current resume, and three letters of recommendation (two of which must be from your current teachers). If you have already been awarded scholarships by us, that fact must be disclosed in the application. Presidential Scholarship should be submitted online at lamar.edu/myscholarships.
    • Southeast Texas Legends Scholarship
      Deadline: January 15

      Outstanding incoming freshmen are invited to apply. SETX Legends Scholars receive a full scholarship for four years covering tuition, fees, room and board, and books. Applicants should be: first-time-in-college freshmen (dual credit and AP credit are not disqualifying) with a minimum GPA of 3.85 (High school GPA will be re-calculated on 4.0 collegiate scale) and in the Top 25% of their class with a record of demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, service and/or creative endeavors. Students must also complete a FAFSA and demonstrate financial need. Southeast Texas Legends applicants must first apply and be accepted for admission to Lamar University. In addition, you must submit a letter of interest that presents a personal statement of your academic goals and intended major, along with a current resume, three letters of recommendation AND complete the FAFSA. Applications for the LU Top Scholars Program: Southeast Texas Legends Scholarship should be submitted online at lamar.edu/myscholarships.
    • Cardinal Elite Scholarship
      Deadline: December 1
      Cardinal Elite Scholarships are available to first-time-in-college freshmen (dual credit and AP credit are still eligible) with a minimum high school GPA of 3.85 (High school GPA will be re-calculated on 4.0 collegiate scale)and must rank in the top 25% of their graduating class. The Cardinal Elite award will give students $40,000 over four years: $7500 per year will be applied toward tuition and $2500 per year will be applied toward on-campus residence hall.
    • Academic Excellence Scholarship
      Deadline: December 1
      Academic Excellence Scholarships are available to first-time-in-college freshmen (dual credit and AP credit are still eligible) with minimum high school GPA of 3.8 and must rank in the top 25% of their class. The Academic Excellence award will give students $32,000 over four years: $5500 per year will be applied toward tuition and $2500 will be applied toward on-campus residence hall.
    • Distinguished Scholars
      Deadline: December 1
      Distinguished Scholars are available to first-time-in-college freshman (dual credit and AP credit are still eligible) with a minimum high school GPA of 3.7 and must rank in the top 25% of their class. The Distinguished Scholars award will give students $20,000 over four years: $2500 per year will be applied toward tuition and $2500 per year will be applied toward on-campus residence hall.
    • University Scholars
      Deadline: December 1
      University Scholars 
      are available to first-time-in-college freshman (dual credit and AP credit are still eligible) with a minimum high school GPA of 3.65 and must rank in the top 25% of their class. The University Scholars award will give students $4000 over four years: $1000 per year will be applied toward tuition.
    • Smith-Hutson Scholarship 
      Deadline: March 1

      Incoming freshmen with established financial need and academic potential are encouraged to apply for the Smith-Hutson Scholarship.  This scholarship provides a portion of tuition, fees, books, supplies and on-campus room and board. All applicants must submit an essay, two letters of recommendation, and complete a FAFSA. Smith-Hutson Scholarship applications should be submitted online through lamar.edu/myscholarships
  • McNeese State University – Scholarships Page
     
    • McNeese State University Honors College
      Honors College normally requires a 3.5 GPA (on 4.0 scale) and a 27 ACT or a 1210 on SAT. Application should include current HS transcript, three letters of recommendation (two from teachers/counselor or principal), essay. For more info or scholarship application, see counselor. Honors College Scholarship applications will be reviewed starting beginning of December. Early submission is suggested.
    • McNeese Access Award
      Approximately $2,500 per semester (amount of non-resident/out-of-state fee). First-time freshmen may receive a non-resident fee waiver if they meet the following criteria: Students with less than 12 college hours – Minimum ACT of 21 or SAT of 1060, 2.25 High School GPA (on 4.0 scale), college-ready in math and English/have no need for developmental coursework. Students with 12 or more college hours – college GPA of 2.5, and college-ready in math and English/have no need for developmental coursework. This means they will not pay out-of-state fees. Students in band, dance, cheerleaders, choir, rodeo, debate, and art can also receive out-of-state fees waived. More info here.
  • Sam Houston State University – Scholarships Page

    • Smith Hutson Scholarship 
      Dedicated to providing opportunities to students who otherwise may not have a chance to earn a baccalaureate degree, the Smith-Hutson Scholarship Program is targeted toward individuals with demonstrated financial need and academic potential. The Smith-Hutson Scholarship Program provides educational opportunities for Texas high school graduates pursuing a baccalaureate degree from Sam Houston State University. Additionally, the Smith-Hutson Scholarship program is available to transfer students from a Texas community college who are pursuing a baccalaureate degree at Sam Houston State University. The number of Smith-Hutson scholarships varies year-to-year depending on the number of qualified applicants. More info here.
    • Honors College Elliott T. Bowers Scholarship
      Applications for fall admittance for first-time freshmen are due by March 31
      Each student admitted to the Honors College receives this scholarship and will also be considered for additional academic scholarships including the President’s Scholarship, the University Scholars, and the Undergraduate Academic Achievement Award. More information available

  • Southern Methodist University – Scholarships Page
     
    • ​Hunt Leadership Scholarship
      Application Deadline: January 15
      Submit application for SMU and submit an online Hunt Leadership Application, including an essay and a YouTube statement. Approximately 60 finalists are invited to interview at SMU in March. About 20-25 first-year students are selected ant notified by first week in April. Students selected receive an annual Hunt Scholarship of $42,000 or $168,000 over four years. They may also be eligible for additional departmental scholarships. The award also covers the airfare and tuition costs for any courses during an international, leadership-based experience immediately following each scholar’s sophomore year.   • Stephen F. Austin State University – Scholarships Page     Scholarship Opportunities/Search
     
    • Academic Excellence Scholarship Program
      Must be admitted by June 30
      The Academic Excellence Scholarship awards $3,000 scholarships to entering freshmen for the upcoming fall semester who meet the eligibility requirements. If specific criteria are met, the scholarship may be renewed for three additional years after the initial award while pursuing the first baccalaureate degree. 
      Requirements: (1) Meet scholarship requirements and receive the offer of admission by June 30 for upcoming fall semester (2) Rank in the top 10% of graduating class OR Rank in the 25% of graduating class and earn 1170 on the newly formatted SAT Test (Math and Evidenced based reading and writing) or 24 on the ACT (not including writing sample score). A formal application for the scholarship is not required as students are considered and evaluated when officially admitted to the university. Scholarships will be awarded to eligible students who are admitted to the university by June 30 for the upcoming fall semester and meet all scholarship requirements by that date.
    • Smith-Hutson Scholarship 
      Deadline: February 1
      The Smith-Hutson Scholarship should cover tuition, books, fees, and reasonable living expenses on campus (up to $17,500). Entering freshmen must be Texas residents, be accepted to SFA, demonstrate financial need, provide a personal essay, provide two letters of recommendation, and be available for a personal interview on the SFA campus.   • ​Texas A&M University – Scholarships Page
    The application for all freshman scholarships is included as part of the ApplyTexas Application or the Coalition Application. Awards include those by the Department of Student Financial Aid, the Office of Honors Programs and Academic Scholarships, the Corps of Cadets, and colleges and departments within Texas A&M University.

    • ​Beaumont A&M Club 
      Mandatory Meeting – February 27, 2024 
       at 6 p.m. at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, 500 Main Street, Beaumont.
      Several Opportunity Scholarships ranging from $1,500 to $2,000 are available to Spring 2024 graduates. The recipient of each scholarship will be one who has demonstrated strong academic achievements through grades, references, and extra-curricular activities. In addition, applicants will be asked to write a brief essay about Texas A&M. A complimentary dinner will be served to students and their family members present for the meeting. Students or their immediate family must attend this meeting to receive the scholarship application.
    • Orange County Texas A&M University Mothers’ Club
      Deadline to return to LCMHS Counselors’ Office is Monday, March 4, 2024
      Application form available in the Counselors’ Office. Application, official transcript, copy of Unconditional Acceptance Letter to Texas A&M University (College Station or Galveston) and essay should be returned to the Counselors’ Office.

       
  • ​Texas State University – Scholarships Page
    • Deadline: December 15
      Texas State will consider admitted freshmen for Assured Scholarships (Fall 2022) and Competitive Scholarships (Fall 2022) without an SAT or ACT score. Students applying without an SAT or ACT will receive a holistic review of their application, which will include consideration of their high school curriculum, level of courses taken, high school rank/percentile, grades earned, and may include admission essay(s) and extracurricular involvement/leadership/community service/work experience throughout their high school career. To be considered for Competitive Scholarships, students will also need to complete and submit a Texas State scholarship application via the Bobcat Online Scholarship System (BOSS) by December 15, prior to your first summer/fall semester.

    • Texas Exes
      Application Deadline: February 15
      Applicants in their senior year of high school can apply for Texas Exes scholarships using 
      the online scholarship application. Applicants can apply even if they have not yet been admitted to The University of Texas at Austin. By completing the Entering Freshman Application (not ApplyTexas), you will automatically apply for all Texas Exes scholarships for which you qualify—no further action is needed. 

      Please note: Consideration for scholarships administered by the Texas Exes is a separate process from the ApplyTexas admission application. Completing the ApplyTexas application does not automatically qualify a student to be considered for Texas Exes scholarships. There is not an option to apply for Texas Exes scholarships on the ApplyTexas application. The Texas Exes online scholarship application must be completed. 
    • ​Austin 40 Acres Scholarship
      Preferred Deadline: November 1Application Deadline: December 1,
      Forty Acres Scholars Program – The Forty Acres Scholars Program is the premier full-ride, merit-based scholarship at The University of Texas at Austin. This scholarship program offers a rich college experience that provides academic, leadership, and cultural opportunities within an intimate cohort of fellow scholars. Applying to The University of Texas at Austin via the Common App or ApplyTexas automatically submits you as a candidate for the Forty Acres Scholars Program. A standalone application is no longer required. Only those students selected to move forward in the process will be contacted directly by the Forty Acres Scholars Program, at which point, if the student chooses to remain under consideration, there will be additional steps to complete.
