BURKE HAS SIGNING DAY CEREMONY

November 17, 2020 (LC-M) – The Texas State Golf Team is going to get one of the best golfers to come through Southeast Texas.  On Wednesday LCM’s Jack Burke (pictured above with golf coaches Bart Williams, Johnnie Kay Harrell, and his dad Aaron) signed to play for the Bobcats in San Marcos.  Burke’s school career includes many individual distinctions including the 4A State Championship in 2019 and the Babe Didrickson Zaharias Golfer of the Year Award in 2019 & 2020.  Jack’s play outside his school play is where he gained the most notoriety and the attention of college coaches.  “You have to get outside the Golden Triangle and not only play, but play well in the big AJGA, LJT, and TJGT tourneys.  That gets you into the big invitational only tourneys and playing in front of college coaches” Jack’s dad said.  “Jack’s goal since middle school was to play Division 1 golf and he has sacrificed and worked so hard for it.  Now that work has paid off big for him – I couldn’t be prouder and happier for him.”  Next up for Burke, COVID permitting, is his third and final All-State Sugar Bowl Invitational in New Orleans just after Christmas.  The high school season starts up in January and hopefully ends with another State title in May. (Courtesy of KOGT)
