August 26 (LCM) – The Lady Bears hosted the PNG Lady Indians Tuesday and fell 3-2 in five hard fought sets (18-25, 23-25, 27-25, 25-14, 5-15). Stat leaders: Kills: Paisley Angelle (12), Cyra Johnson (9), Asia Woodson (8), Aadi Day (5), Miya Hoy (above left) and Marley Hyman with (3). Assists: Miya Hoy (20) and Jada Montagne (18). Aces: Miya Hoy (4), Asia Woodson (3), Paisley Angelle (1). Blocks: Cyra Johnson (above right) (2), Marley Hyman (1), Asia Woodson (1), Paisley Angelle (1). Digs: Paisley Angelle (34), Aubrey Temple (30), Miya Hoy (18), Jada Montagne (16), Asia Woodson (14), Aadi Day (8). The JV won 2-0 and the Freshmen lost 2-1.

CRAWFORD SELECTED LADY BEARS AOW

August 25 – Congratulations to freshman Marren Crawford for being selected as the LCM Lady Bears Athlete of the Week. In the Rick Miller Cross Country Invitational, Marren placed 1st with an impressive time of 13:15.29, helping the Lady Bears win the team title.

LADY BEARS TAKE FIRST – BEARS SECOND

August 23 (Orange) – The boys and girls cross country teams competed at Claiborne Park this morning. The girls team placed first overall and was led by freshman Marren Crawford who placed first, followed by Allyson Welch in 5th and Kyler Mullins in 9th. The girls team won the meet with 49 points. The boys had a great outing and brought home second as a team with Brodie Fisher finishing 4th and Derek Lopez in 6th. The team will run again at Claiborne Park on August 30.

LADY BEARS TAKE FIRST IN LUFKIN

August 23 (Lufkin) – The Lady Bears won the Silver Bracket in the Lufkin Lady Panthers Varsity Volleyball Tournament. On Saturday they defeated Hamshire-Fannett 2-1, Woodville 2-0, and Tarkington 2-1. Friday the Lady Bears beat Hudson 2-0, lost to Tatum 2-0, and beat Groveton 2-0. Thursday they lost to Iola 2-0, and defeated Coldspring 2-0 and Cleveland 2-0.

BARNES TAKES FIRST

August 23 (Beaumont) – Bear Tennis player Sarah Barnes competed in the Beaumont Labor Day Tennis classic this weekend and won 1st place in girls singles.
