LAMAR STATE COLLEGE-ORANGE
Lamar State College-Orange's Dual Credit High School website has more information about applying.
Tuition Payment Information (how and when to pay tuition)
LSCO tuition and fees (including online and lab) are $45 per credit hour for Dual Credit courses. Most core classes are 3 credit hours and cost $135; science classes are 4 credits and cost $180. Fall tuition is due in mid-August; spring tuition is due in January. Textbooks and course materials may be an additional cost. See table below for specific amounts for each class by semester.
Economically Disadvantaged Students
In Summer 2023, Governor Abbott signed into law legislation that provides for any economically disadvantaged student to enroll in dual credit courses at not cost to them. Specifically, high school students who are currently classified at LCM as economically disadvantaged or who have been identified as such within the previous four academic years can take dual credit courses with LSCO for FREE. This includes textbooks through the Gator BookPack.
Cosmetology & Welding DE/CTE Courses
LSCO will waive tuition for Cosmetology or Welding courses taught by a qualified high school CTE teacher. Students who complete ALL the Cosmetology or Welding courses in the LCM program can graduate with a certificate from LSCO.
Gator Book Pack Information
LSCO has an affordable textbook rental access program that will provide students with all required rental textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, and electronic book versions before the first day of class! Dual Credit students will be charged $14 per semester credit hour! For example, if a student is registered for 10 semester credit hours, the cost of textbooks is $140. The cost will be made to the student. If a student enrolls in a payment plan, this charge will be included in the payment plan calculations. Supplies are not included in this program and will need to be purchased separately. Students will be notified through their LSCO email about book return options. Students will have the option to purchase their textbook rentals through instructions that will be emailed to them from the Barnes & Noble bookstore.
Students are automatically enrolled in the Gator Book Pack at the time of registration. Most DE classes taught by LCM instructors will use textbooks at the high school and students/parents will probably want to “opt out” of these extra charges. Students taking LSCO DE classes taught by both LCM and LSCO instructors (taken on LSCO campus and/or online from LSCO) may want to compare textbook prices as each LSCO DE credit hour is charged $14. (LSCO Bookstore – textbooks for courses at or by LSCO faculty – U.S. History, Government, Process Tech, Nursing, EMT.) Students will begin receiving emails about selecting their preferred delivery method of their Gator Book Pack for the following semester.
Opt-OUT = Students will be able to find the opt-out link on the LSCO Gator Book Pack landing page during the ‘opt-out’ period prior to the beginning of the semester. Students who opt-out will be responsible for purchasing all required course materials on their own.
REFUND – Tuition is usually due about a week before the Opt-OUT period closes. If you did pay for the textbooks when you paid tuition and realize you should have opted OUT, you can get that Book Pack fee refunded. Students can set up direct deposit information through MyGator. Here is the link to the process. Contact the Cashier Office at 409-882-3371 if you have any questions.
