FOUNDATION HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM ENDORSEMENTS

To graduate from LCM high school, students must do the following:

  • Complete the Foundation Graduation Program – see 2018-2019 Pre-Registration Handbook

  • Pass all required test assessments

  • Demonstrate proficiency in verbal and non-verbal communications as well as critical thinking and problem solving skills.

  • Complete a health course (½ credit = 1 semester)

  • Select at least one of five endorsement options (see below), requiring them to enroll in specific elective courses based on the student’s career interests and abilities. Taking electives within an endorsement choice allows an early glimpse into the fields students may be interested in, so they may have a head start in their college classes or vocational training.

Explore how these endorsement MAY continue into college majors and careers. Check out how you could continue these at Lamar University.

In addition, students also have the unique opportunity to:

  • Enhance their diplomas by earning the Distinguished Level of Achievement category, providing them with additional financial aid and college selection options.
    • All Foundation Program requirements plus Algebra II
    • All Foundation Program requirements plus an advanced science class based on endorsement selection.

  • Include Performance Acknowledgements that demonstrate outstanding achievement in several specific circumstances. Students can earn one or more Performance Acknowledgement, in addition to any graduation program they follow, for any of the areas listed below. (Please talk to your school Counselor for specific guidelines for each category).
    • Dual Credit course – At least 12 hours of college credit with a grade of 80 (B) or better
    • Advanced Placement exam performance – A score of 3 or above
    • SAT (410 reading and 520 math), ACT (28 composite, excluding writing), or PSAT (recognized as a commended scholar or higher) score
    • Bilingualism and biliteracy – Grades of 80 or higher in all English courses and at least three years of one language other than English with grades of 80 or higher OR at least three years of a language other than English with grades of 80 or higher
