January 13 – Congratulations to senior Dane Hawk for being named the LCM Bears Athlete of the Week, In the Bears’ 44-27 win over Lumberton, Dane scored 26 points, including 8 three-pointers. He is shooting an excellent 39% on 3-pt. attempts this season, with 66 makes.

BEARS GET WIN AT HOME
December 30 (LCM) – The Bears picked up a 67-56 over Onalaska as they finished up their non-district schedule. The Bears were led by Jonah Fuller with 21 points, Khayden Reed (above) with 19 points and Dane Hawk with 14 points. LCM is now 11-11 on the season and 1-0 in district play. The JV Bears also came up with a big win over Onalaska, 65-26.
FULLER NAMED AOW
December 30 – Congratulations to senior Jonah Fuller for being selected as the LCM Bears Athlete of the Week. In the LCM Waterboy Winter Classic, Jonah averaged 18 points per game over 4 games and was named to the All-Tournament Team. He continues to lead the Bears with his intensity & will to win, making him an invaluable asset to the team.

December 28 (LCM) – The Bears hosted the LCM Waterboy Tournament Friday and Saturday with games going in both the “Cave” and “Grove” Gyms. All three LCM teams (9th, JV, and Varsity) played in the tourney. The Varsity went 2-2 and now sit at 10-11 overall. Friday saw Dane Hawk (above) and the Bears down Woodville 63-36 and then fall to Australia, yes the country, 26-48. On Saturday, LCM lost to Crawford 51-32 and the get a 43-32 win over Cleveland.
FLOYD SELECTED BEARS AOW
December 23 – Congratulations to senior Tucker Floyd for being selected as the LCM Bears Athlete of the Week. Tucker was a huge spark and key component in the Bears’ district win against West Orange-Stark Friday night. He came off the bench making one big effort play after another, and finished with 6 points, 6 rebounds, 4 deflections, & 1 assist. Additionally, the Bears were +9 points with him on the floor.

December 20 (LCM) – The Bears opened district play with a 56-47 win over the West Orange-Stark Mustangs. Jonah Fuller (above) led the way with 22 points and Khayden Reed pulled down 13 rebounds. LCM is now 8-9 on the season and 1-0 in district.
BEARS PLAY IN HJ TOURNEY
December 14 (Sour Lake) – Friday, the Bears opened play in the Hardin-Jefferson Varsity Tournament with a 69-54 loss to host Hardin-Jefferson. LCM was led by Jonah Fuller with 26 points and 5 rebounds. Braylon Lewis and Darrion Morris each finished with 8 points. The Bears then played eventual tournament champion LaPorte and fell 83-46. KD Reed had 12 points and 7 rebounds, Jonah Fuller had 12 points, and Dane Hawk finished with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Saturday, the Bears finished the tournament with a 58-32 loss to the Nederland Bulldogs. KD Reed led LCM with 11 points. Coach Smith said the team got better this weekend by playing some of the toughest teams in the area. The Bears are now 7-9 on the season.

December 9 – Congratulations to junior Khayden Reed for being selected as the LCM Bears Athlete of the Week. Khayden’s relentless effort and energy on defense and solid offensive rebounding made him a key player for the Bears in the Buna Tournament this past weekend. His intensity was a major component in helping the Bears overcome a 10 point deficit in the 4th quarter to beat Buna Friday night. Khayden was also named to the All-Tournament team.

November 22 (LCM) – The Bears (2-0) battled back to overcome an early 11-point deficit to get tough 42-40 win over the Buna Cougars. Jonah Fuller led all scorers with 11 points, including the game winning layup at the buzzer. Dane Hawk added 8, Darrion Morris and Tucker Floyd chipped in with 6 points each.

SMITH TAKES OVER AS BEARS HEAD COACH
June (LCM) – There will be a new, yet familiar face leading the boys basketball program this season. Nate Smith (above), who has been part of the Bear Basketball program for the past two years as an assistant, was recently named head coach for the Bears. Before his time at LCM, Smith worked for Vidor ISD for 12 years. During that time, he was an assistant basketball coach for six years and a head coach for six years.
