November 18 – Several Battlin’ Bears were selected for the 2024 10-4A D1 All-District football team. Head Coach Eric Peevey was selected Coach of the Year. Tucker Floyd was selected Defensive MVP and Jackson Smith was named Special Teams MVP. 1st Team Offense: Braylon Lewis (QB), Khayden Reed (WR), Evan Worster (TE), Carson Phelps (OL), and Nathan Childress (OL). 1st Team Defense: Eddie Winters-Wilhite (DL), Trevor Lloyd (DE), Jackson Smith (DB), and Parker Freeman (P). 2nd Team Offense: Jonah Fuller (RB), Angel Mendoza (FB), Clayton Farwell (OL), Jaylon Broussard (OL), and Isaiah Watzlavik (K). 2nd Team Defense: Justice Trahan (DE), Jonah Fuller (OLB), and Kaden Boatman (DB).
PHELPS SELECTED BEARS AOW
November 18 – Congratulations to senior Carson Phelps for being selected as the LCM Bears Athlete of the Week. Carson is not only a key player on the football field, he is also a State Qualifier in Powerlifting & a Regional Qualifier in Track. Carson is a leader both on & off the field, and is the perfect portrayal of a Battlin' Bear.

LEWIS NAMED MR. TEXAS FOOTBALL POW
November 15 – QB Braylon Lewis was named the Mr. Texas Football Player of the Week for Week 11 by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. Lewis had 213 yards (2 TD) passing and 171 yards (2 TD) rushing in the Bears win over the Lumberton Raiders. LCM claimed their first outright district championship in 30 years with the victory.
REED SELECTED BEAR AOW
November 11 – Congratulations to junior Khayden “KD” Reed for being selected as the LCM Bears Athlete of the Week. Khayden has had a great season for the Bears starting on both offense & defense. In Friday’s win against Lumberton, he kicked off the game with an interception on the very first play! Offensively, Khayden had 3 receptions for 153 yards & 2 touchdowns. He helped put the game out of reach for the Raiders when he caught a 36-yard touchdown pass to help the Bears go up by 3 scores.
REED NAMED KOGT POW
November 11 – LCM receiver Khayden Reed caught two touchdown passes from Braylon Lewis and finished with 147 yards receiving Friday night as the Bears beat Lumberton and secured an undefeated district title for the first time in 30 years. Reed had a 34 yard over the shoulder catch (above) and a short catch that he turned into a 78 yard score to get the offense going in the first quarter. For his efforts Reed is the KOGT Player of the Week sponsored by Team Granger.
BEARS CLAIM FIRST OUTRIGHT DISTRICT TITLE IN 30 YEARS
November 8 (LCM) – The Bears claimed their first outright district title in 30 years (1994) Friday night as they defeated the Lumberton Raiders 35-25. The Bears clawed their way to a 14-6 first half lead behind a 78-yard touchdown pass from Braylon Lewis to Khayden Reed and a 3-yard J’Lynn Morris touchdown run. The Bears exploded for 21-points in the third quarter as Lewis had a 65-yard TD run, connected with Reed again for a 34-yard TD pass, and then broke free for a 72-yard TD. Lumberton found the endzone twice in the quarter, but LCM had a comfortable 35-12 lead. The Raiders would add a late 4th quarter score as LCM closed out the game for the 35-25 win. Offensively the Bears finished with 501 yards of offense (292 rushing-209 passing) and 554 total yards. Lewis finished with 169-yards rushing (2 TD) and was 10-19 passing for 209-yards (2 TD). Reed had 3 receptions for 147-yards and two touchdowns. The defense was led by Tucker Floyd (9 tackles), Jackson Smith (7 tackles, INT, blocked punt), and Brice Johnson (2 TKL, 3 Asst, TFL, Sack). BOATMAN SELECTED BEARS AOW
November 4 – Congratulations to senior starting cornerback and wide receiver, Kaden Boatman, for being selected as the LCM Bears Athlete of the Week. During the 3rd quarter against Huffman, Kaden had a huge 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to help the Bears start their game winning comeback. He also had a big 3rd down catch and multiple tackles on defense. Kaden is an outstanding student-athlete and a leader both on and off the field.

November 4 – The Bears are the only undefeated team left in District 10-4A after beating Huffman and it was a team effort. But it was a special game for QB Braylon Lewis who has been named the KOGT Player of the Week, sponsored by Team Granger. Lewis ran the ball 16 times for 120 yards and three touchdowns. He also completed 7-of-8 passes for 112 yards, including a big touchdown pass to Jakson Struwe in the fourth quarter.

October 28 – Congratulations to junior Braylon Lewis for being selected as the LCM Bears Athlete of the Week. Braylon helped lead the Battlin’ Bears to a big district win against the Bridge City Cardinals last Friday. He finished the night with over 200 yards on offense, and also threw the winning touchdown pass to Evan Worster. Braylon is a leader on and off the field, as he is an all A student-athlete and member of the National Honor Society.

October 21 – Congratulations to senior Eddie Winters-Wilhite for being selected as the LCM Bears Athlete of the Week. Eddie has consistently been a force to be reckoned with on the Bears’ defensive line this year. He plays football with a relentless drive that is uncommon in today's world. Eddie always puts others first both on & off the field, and is an excellent young man to be around. He is fantastic in the classroom, and always receives multiple praises from his teachers.

FULLER EARNS AOW HONORS
October 14 – Congratulations to senior Jonah Fuller for being selected as the LCM Bears Athlete of the Week. Jonah rushed for 201 yards on 13 carries with 2 touchdowns Friday night. He also had 5 tackles, a QB pressure, and a 30-yard reception. Jonah played true Iron Man Football, starting on both sides of the ball helping the Battlin' Bears capture another big District Win.

October 7 – Congratulations to senior Tucker Floyd for being selected as the LCM Bears Athlete of the Week. From his linebacker position, Tucker helped the Battlin’ Bears secure a huge win last Friday with 11 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 forced fumble, & 1 pass break up. Tucker is also a team captain, as well as a great student-athlete.

SMITH NAMED BEARS AOW
September 30 – Congratulations to senior Jackson Smith for being selected as the LCM Bears Athlete of the Week. Against the Vidor Pirates, Jackson helped lead the Battlin' Bear defense by racking up 10 solo tackles. On Special Teams, he had two blocked extra points with one being run back for a 2-point conversion.
BEARS OPEN DISTRICT WITH BIG ROAD WIN
September 27 (Vidor) – The Battlin’ Bears opened district play with a big road victory over the Vidor Pirates. Junior quarterback Braylon Lewis led the Bears offense with 109 yards passing (12-of-26) and 96 yards on 11 carries including the go-ahead touchdown late in the game. Khayden Reed was the leading receiver for LCM as he hauled in 6 catches for 65 yards. Senior linebacker Tucker Floyd led the Bear defense with 12 tackles (6 assists & 2 TFL). Marek Lloyd and Jackson Smith both finished with 10 tackles. The Bears forced two Pirate fumbles with the biggest being inside the final two minutes of the game (recovered by Eddie Winters-Wilhite) and two Sacks (Brice Johnson and Justice Trahan).
Vidor grabbed a 6-0 lead late in the first quarter. The Bears would answer when J’Lynn Morris found the endzone on a 6-yard run. Isaiah Watzlavik’s extra point put the Bears up 7-6 and that would be all the scoring in the first half. Vidor would regain the lead in the third on a touchdown run but the Bears blocked the Pirate extra point attempt and Jackson Struwe would return it fall the way to the endzone for an LCM 2-point conversion. Vidor would hang on to a 12-9 lead until Lewis scrambled for a 19-yard touchdown run with 8:22 left in the game. LCM (2-2, 1-0) would hang on in a wild finish that saw two big turnover by both teams and come away with a 16-12 win over the Pirates (1-3, 0-1).

MORRIS EARNS KOGT POW HONORS
September 16 – LCM's J'Lynn Morris took advantage of his playing time Friday night in the Bears win over the Iowa Yellowjackets. The junior carried the ball 17 times for 200 yards. That's an average of almost 12 yards per carry. For his performance, Morris is the KOGT Player of the Week sponsored by Team Granger.

September 16 – Congratulations to senior Evan Worster for being selected as the LCM Bears Athlete of the Week. Last Friday, Evan stepped up and played a major role for the Bears in their 45-26 Homecoming win against the Iowa Yellowjackets. Evan had 3 touchdowns and a huge catch on 3rd down to help lead the Bears to Victory.
BEARS GET BIG WIN OVER IOWA
September 13 (LCM) – The Battlin’ Bears picked up a huge win Friday night over the Iowa (LA) Yellowjackets 45-26. The win was even sweeter as LCM was celebrating Homecoming and also recognizing the 1994 District Championship team. The Bears (1-2, 0-0) put up 500 yards of offense (47-385 rushing and 6-12-115 passing) led by running back J’Lynn Morris (17 carries for 200 yards) and quarterback Braylon Lewis (above) (7 carries for 101 yards rushing and 6-of-12, 115 yards, INT passing ). Evan Worster (6-7, 3 TD) found the endzone 3-times and Jonah Fuller (10-46, 2 TD) had 2 touchdowns on the ground. Khayden Reed led the Bears in receiving with 3 receptions for 56 yards. Freshman Kicker Isaiah Watzlavik had a big night going 6-of-6 on XPA’s and also connected on a 37-yard field goal late in the 2nd quarter. The defense played solid against a very potent Iowa offense. Kaden Boatman made the play of the night with a 41-yard INT return for a touchdown early in the 1st quarter and Jackson Smith blocked two extra point attempts. Freshman Kicker Isaiah Watzlavik had a big night going 6-of-6 on XPA’s and also connected on a 37-yard field goal late in the 2nd quarter. The Yellowjackets (1-1, 0-0) finished with 324 yards of offense (25-162 rushing and 11-22, 162 yards, 3 TD’s, INT passing). For a look at all the stats click on the link below.
