Attendance
-
Every day matters. Every class counts.
The 90% Attendance Rule
To receive credit or a final grade in a class, students must attend at least 90% of the days the class is offered. This includes both excused and unexcused absences. Refer to Policy FEA for exempt absences.
Students who fall below 90% attendance may be required to complete a Make-Up Time Plan to regain credit.
Truancy
Truancy applies only to unexcused absences. Students with 10 unexcused absences within a six-month period will be referred to Truancy Court.
When a student returns to school after an absence, the student must submit a note signed by a parent or guardian to the attendance office. Up to five parent notes will be accepted each school year.
Attendance Pays
Students with no unexcused absences at the end of each six-week grading period will be entered into a prize drawing. Prizes may include Beats headphones, iPads, laptops, and more.
Students with no unexcused absences for the entire semester will be entered into the grand-prize drawing. Grand prizes may include a Nintendo Switch or VR headset.
The Gold Standard
Every day a child is in school is another day they are seen, supported, and given the chance to become who they are meant to be.
