ACT Testing

The ACT contains multiple-choice tests in three areas: English, Mathematics, Reading. Science and Writing are optional. Scoring is on a 36-point scale with the maximum score on each section being 36 points, then the three parts are averaged together to get one composite score. (ACT Overview)

Juniors are encouraged to take their SAT or ACT for the first time beginning the spring semester of their junior year (January-June). Seniors who have not yet taken their SAT or ACT exam or who wish to take the exam again should plan to take them in the early fall of their senior year in order to meet college admission deadlines.
Income-eligible students may take four free ACT tests using a fee waiver. See your guidance counselor for a fee waiver.
ACTs are not given at LCMHS.
Register for the ACT
The LCM School Code needed for registration for the ACT is 445-240.
- ACT (includes the English, math, and reading sections) - $68 (Includes reports for you, your high school, and up to four college choices when you register)
- Writing Add-On Fee – $25 – More about the ACT with writing. Can be added or removed through the late deadline.
- Science Add-On Fee – $4 – More about the science section. Can be added or removed through the late deadline.

- ACT Practice Tests are also available through your Classlink → TexQuest → EBSCO Learning Express. Click on Centers dropdown on the bar and select College Admissions Test Preparation → Prepare for Your ACT Test. You can create an account inside Learning Express to save your work.
- ACT Score Release Dates
- Multiple choice scores are normally available two weeks after each national test date, but it can sometimes take up to eight weeks.
- Writing scores are normally available about two weeks after your multiple-choice scores.
